JON CURRAN AND KEEGAN BRADLEY SUCCESSFULLY DEFEND THEIR CVS HEALTH CHARITY CLASSIC TITLE
Playoff finish with Bill Haas and tournament co-host Billy Andrade excites fans
BARRINGTON, R.I. (June 28, 2016) – New England-natives Jon Curran and Keegan Bradley became the second team in CVS Health Charity Classic history to successfully defend their title and repeat as Charity Classic champions. The other team to accomplish this feat was Steve Stricker and Bo Van Pelt in 2013 and 2014.
The team of Curran/Bradley made birdie on 17 to move to -18 and tie Bill Haas and Billy Andrade for the lead, forcing a one hole playoff after Haas/Andrade failed to birdie 18. The two teams returned to the 18th tee for the first playoff hole, with Curran/Bradley making a birdie to win the trophy. This marks only the fourth playoff in Charity Classic history, with the last occurrence in 2006 between eventual winners Nick Price and Tim Clark and tournament co-host Brad Faxon and Mike Weir.
Three teams were tied for third at 16-under-par; Louis Oosthuizen/Branden Grace, Chris Kirk/Steve Stricker and Jason Bohn/Kevin Kisner.
